Project Description
The Health GeoLab Collaborative (HGLC) is an initiative bringing together institutions and individuals sharing the same vision and mission - geo-enabling the Health Information System (HIS) to reach the health related sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 in Asia and the Pacific.
The HGLC builds on the work done and the network of expertise developed through the activities of the AeHIN GIS Lab over the 2016-2017 period and uses the 4Ts (Training, Tooling, Testing and Teaming) approach to strengthen in-country capacity in this regard.
The HGLC therefore aims at supporting the development of training material for different targeted audiences in the health sector. One of these training, which is at the original of the collaboration with the WeObservatory and has been presented at the Université eSanté in Castres in July 2017, will be specifically dedicated to Maternal Health and Obstetrical Emergencies, in developing countries (https://weobservatory.com/2017/07/18/universite-esante-castres-5-7-july-2017/).
Through the assistance provided, the health sector does not only benefit from a more powerful use of geospatial data and technologies to support geographically based decision making but also improves data consistency across health programs to reach a more systemic approach to solving public health problems and therefore reach the health SDG.
